What Is Persuading Everyone To Move These Days?

Most everyone knows that recently people have been moving for a bunch of different reasons. Aside from the normal growing families or new jobs that often trigger a move, the recent pandemic has also influenced a new set of needs in our homes.

According to a recent study by the 2020 Annual National Movers: “For customers who cited COVID-19 as an influence on their move in 2020, the top reasons associated with COVID-19 were concerns for personal and family health and wellbeing (60%); desires to be closer to family (59%); 57% moved due to changes in employment status or work arrangement (including the ability to work remotely); and 53% desired a lifestyle change or improvement of quality of life.”

Given this information, here are some of the reasons why people are moving these days.

Remote Work From Home

Although over the years it has been more and more common for people to work remotely it has really increased in the past year. With these types of changes that are becoming either permanent or where in-person office visits are less frequent it is making people consider a move. These moves may be to relocate further away to a more desirable area or maybe it may be time for a bigger home that is more accommodating for a home office.

Space for Activities

Spending more of your time at home means more activities are taking place within the four walls. As we saw home gym equipment purchases on the rise, stationary bikes become more popular, and the like, one will need space to store and use these items. Pet adoptions were also increasing which requires more square footage while others may wish to have space for additional hobbies that they may have taken up.

Outdoor Space

Your outdoor space is always an extension of your living space when the weather permits. According to a report on home trends by Better Homes & Gardens, there were a few popular trends this year. They included outdoor kitchens, an edible garden with vegetables and herbs, and finally a private outdoor space.
